Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that search. The provider processes the request and supplies the response. We do not keep or record those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we retain the message as needed to prepare a response. Its contents remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers may receive basic technical information whenever a visitor loads a page, including:
- Your device's IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- The referring website, when one is available
- The date and time associated with each visit
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device that help measure how the website is used, such as which pages receive the most visits and where sessions end. Analytics providers combine this activity into traffic reports. You may block cookies through your browser, although doing so can change how some website features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate the website and maintain reliable page performance
- Route a submitted search to the appropriate outside service
- Measure which material visitors use and where improvements are needed
- Diagnose errors, outages, and other technical problems
- Display advertising that may reflect a visitor's interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The website provides general directions to Hopkins County record custodians, the Kentucky Court of Justice, the Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, and the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry. Kentucky criminal-history access and dissemination are addressed in KRS Chapter 17, while the originating agency remains responsible for its official record. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not compiled into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search functions that appear on this website. Information entered in one of those tools is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention, processing, and disclosure rules. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Hopkins County Sheriff, Kentucky court services, state agencies, legal-assistance resources, or outside search providers. Once you follow an external link, the destination's privacy terms apply. Check those terms before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may measure activity across different websites to select ads. That collection occurs through the provider's systems and policies, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold by us. Limited information may be available to:
- Outside search providers when you use their tools
- Analytics providers that measure website use and performance
- Advertising networks that deliver ads on these pages
- A government body or law-enforcement agency acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use customary safeguards intended to protect the information we collect. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a data breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Rights over personal data can differ according to where you live. Kentucky's Open Records Act, KRS 61.870-61.884, governs qualifying records held by public agencies; it does not turn this privately operated website into a government records custodian. KRS Chapter 17 separately addresses criminal-history information and its dissemination. Requests you may make to us include:
- Request a copy of personal information we hold about you
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Object to or opt out of certain processing where applicable
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as website practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will appear here with a new effective date. Review this page periodically for the current terms.
